A2.1 Interactive Exercises

The first stage of level A2: Akkusativ and Dativ, personal and possessive pronouns, prepositions of place and time, ordinal numbers, demonstrative/indefinite pronouns and Perfekt II.

A2.1 Exercises: Cases, Pronouns and Prepositions

You are at the first stop of A2. Here you enter the case system that forms the backbone of German, settle the difference between Akkusativ and Dativ, and build your sentences correctly with personal and possessive pronouns (mein, dein, ihr). Prepositions of place, direction and time help you tell "Wo?" questions from "Wohin?" questions and choose the right case in sentences like "Ich gehe in die Schule". Then you move on to subordinate clauses with weil and dass and learn to send the verb to the end, give dates and order with ordinal numbers, and enrich your expression with demonstrative and indefinite pronouns (dieser, jemand, etwas).

The order here is not a random mix: the topics are arranged step by step, each one preparing the next. The moment you answer a question, a short piece of feedback explains which rule is at work, so you learn something from your mistakes too. If you like, you can pick a topic, work again on the areas where you have gaps, and progress at your own pace. These exercises offer a safe space for revision and consolidation both for learners just starting A2 and for those preparing for the Goethe-Zertifikat A2 or telc Deutsch A2 exam.
