C2 Interactive Exercises

After C1 the task is no longer learning rules but using the right language in the right text. At this stage you practise registers, text types, fixed expressions, academic language, literary text analysis and regional differences.

C2 German exercises: register, text type and academic language

C2 is the level where you go beyond knowing the rules. It is not enough for a word to be correct; you need to know which kind of text it belongs to. At this stage you practise four registers, seven text types and the linguistic signals that give them away, the difference between idioms and collocations, the cautious language of academic texts, the function of rhetorical devices in literary texts, and the differences between varieties in the three German-speaking countries.

Each topic has five steps: recognising through matching, distinguishing through multiple choice in two steps, evaluating with Richtig/Falsch and producing through writing. The short explanation after your answer shows, sentence by sentence, why a choice is out of place. It is directly useful when preparing for the Goethe-Zertifikat C2, telc Deutsch C2, TestDaF and DSH.
