B1 Interactive Exercises

Level B1 has two grammar stages and a skills section. Practise the past tenses, the Genitiv and core structures with B1.1 first, then subordinate clauses and Konjunktiv II with B1.2. Choose the stage you want to start with below.

B1 German grammar exercises

B1 is the intermediate level where you learn to narrate events in the past and build longer sentences. B1.1 covers Präteritum and Plusquamperfekt, Genitiv and n-Deklination, Wechselpräpositionen and position verbs, adjective endings and reflexive verbs with prepositions; B1.2 covers relative clauses, wenn/obwohl clauses, indirect questions, infinitive constructions with zu and Konjunktiv II.

Every question is checked instantly and comes with an explanation, so you reinforce B1's most commonly confused topics, such as subordinate clauses and tenses, through reasoned feedback rather than trial and error. If a topic is still shaky, the soundest approach is to go back to the related explanation and then return to the exercise.
