A1 · PRAESENS
Präsens – the German Present Tense

The Präsens is the basic tense in German: it expresses the present, habits and even the near future. The key is conjugation: the stem stays the same and only the ending changes with the person.

📌
Golden rule: Regular endings: ich -e, du -st, er/sie/es -t ("ich lerne", "du lernst", "er lernt").

This page uses repetition to reinforce the correct ending for each person and the common irregular verbs ("sein", "haben"). At A1 it is the first and most important step, and everything in Goethe and telc A1 builds on it.
