What does level B2 mean?
In the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), B2 is defined as an “independent user” level. A learner at this level can express themselves in everyday communication without difficulty and hold a natural, fluent conversation with a native speaker of German.
B2 is the big leap after B1: learners stop being people who study the language and start being people who use it. Vocabulary broadens, grammatical structures are combined into more complex sentences, and learners can elaborate on and defend their own ideas.
What can you do at this level?
Understands news, interviews and discussions on current topics. Can follow standard speech even on specialist subjects; follows most films without subtitles.
Understands newspaper articles, popular science writing and non-literary texts, both in outline and in detail. Can recognise the author's attitude and point of view.
Can write clear, detailed texts on a wide range of topics. Can write an essay arguing for or against an idea; switches between formal and informal letter styles.
Can talk fluently and spontaneously with native speakers of German. Gives opinions on their own field of expertise; can develop arguments in discussions.

B2 is the minimum level for professional competence.
B2 is the launch pad for advanced preparation.
How do you prepare for this level?
Preparing for B2 builds on the core structures learned at B1. At this level complex sentence structures (Konjunktiv II, Passiv, Partizipialkonstruktionen), a broad vocabulary and longer written texts come into play. Learners are expected not just to form correct sentences but to express themselves fluently and effectively.
The programme combines advanced grammar, discussion texts and picture description, listening comprehension practice, essay writing and one-to-one feedback on speaking. Content and duration are planned around the target exam (Goethe B2, telc, ÖSD, TestDaF).
Lessons take place online via Zoom or Google Meet. Requests for face-to-face lessons are discussed individually.
