sein (to be) is the most frequently used verb in German and is conjugated irregularly; it has a separate form for each person. You will work out the correct forms yourself in the exercise. All exercise content is in German.

Present Tense of "sein": A1 Exercises

"sein" means "to be" and is the most frequently used verb in German. Whenever you introduce yourself or say what something is like, you use this verb. In the present tense it changes for six persons: ich bin (I am), du bist, er/sie/es ist, wir sind, ihr seid, sie/Sie sind. For example, you say "Ich bin müde" (I am tired) or "Du bist nett" (You are nice). As you can see, each subject takes a different form; these six forms are the foundation of German.
