A1.1 · Plural
Plural: Noun Plurals (plural forms)
German plural endings do not follow a single rule; every noun is learnt together with its plural (-e, -er, -(e)n, -s and sometimes an umlaut). You will work out the correct plural form yourself in the exercise. All exercise content is in German.
Recognise: match the singular noun with its plural form. In the plural the article is always die.

📌
Golden rule: In the plural the article is always die; the noun forms its plural in one of five ways: -e, -(e)n, -er, -s or with no ending.
This page matches each noun with the right plural type, so the patterns settle in groups. Getting plurals right earns points for both vocabulary and grammar in the Goethe and telc A1–A2 exams.
