What is a Goethe certificate useful for?
The Goethe-Zertifikat is a language certificate recognised worldwide. In Turkey it is most often taken for two purposes: a family reunification application (usually A1) and university admission / professional recognition procedures (usually B1–C1).

The Ankara office offers courses for adults, programmes for young people (aged 13–17), online classes and Goethe-Zertifikat exams at all levels. Its library has a rich collection of German-language works and translations.

Housed in a historic building in Beyoğlu, the Istanbul office has a 65-year history. Alongside courses and exams, its film festivals, literary events, exhibitions and concerts make it one of Turkey's major cultural centres.

Izmir, the only Goethe office in the Aegean region, offers face-to-face and online courses, Goethe-Zertifikat exams and digital library services. Joint event programmes are organised with the Ankara and Istanbul offices.
Goethe-Zertifikat Exams
The Goethe-Zertifikat is an international certificate that documents German proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In Germany, Austria and Switzerland it is accepted for university and job applications as well as in visa and residence procedures.
🔵 Goethe-Zertifikat A1: Start Deutsch 1 – for family reunification and basic communication.
🔵 Goethe-Zertifikat A2 – basic communication in everyday life.
🔵 Goethe-Zertifikat B1 – for permanent residence and citizenship. Its modular format lets you retake individual sections.
🔵 Goethe-Zertifikat B2 – German for academic and professional purposes; an admission requirement at some German universities.
🔵 Goethe-Zertifikat C1 – advanced level; a language certificate widely accepted by German universities.
🔵 Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom – the highest level; for an academic career and for teaching German.
There are also Fit in Deutsch 1/2 (A1–A2) for children and Goethe-Zertifikat B1/B2 Jugendliche for teenagers.
