Nine German prepositions — in, an, auf, über, unter, vor, hinter, neben, zwischen — can take either the Akkusativ or the Dativ. The question behind the choice: Wohin? (where to, a destination) → Akkusativ, Wo? (where, a location) → Dativ. Ich gehe in die Küche, but Ich koche in der Küche. In each question you see a German sentence with a gap and its English translation, and you choose the right article or contraction (such as im, ins or am) from four options. After every answer a short note explains the choice.
A2 practices in, an and auf with the contractions, B1 all nine prepositions and plurals, and B2 harder cases such as crossing over something (über die Mauer springen) and set phrases (auf dem Land).
