About Trennbar-Meister

Many German verbs have a separable prefix: aufstehen, anrufen, einkaufen, fernsehen. When such a verb is conjugated in a simple main clause, a question or a command, the prefix moves to the end of the clause: Ich stehe um sieben Uhr auf. In a subordinate clause, or as an infinitive after a modal verb, the verb stays together. In each question you see a German sentence with a gap and its English translation, and you choose the missing prefix from four options. After every answer you see the full verb with a short note on its meaning.

Choose A1 (frequent verbs), A2 (everyday verbs), B1 (advanced verbs) or Mixed. A round has up to 10 questions, and you have 3 lives. The game is free, needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser.
