About Perfekt-Meister

The German Perfekt is formed with haben or sein + Partizip II: ich habe gegessen, but ich bin gegangen. Verbs of motion and change of state without a direct object (gehen, fahren, aufstehen, einschlafen) take sein, as do a few special verbs such as bleiben and passieren; most other verbs, including the reflexive verbs practiced here, take haben. In each round you see a German sentence with the Partizip in place and its English translation, and you choose the correct form of the auxiliary from four options. After every answer a short note explains the rule.

Choose A2 (clear cases), B1 (special sein verbs and reflexive verbs), B2 (transitive vs. intransitive, e.g. fahren: usually haben with an object, sein without one) or a mixed round. A round has up to 10 questions, and you have 3 lives. The game is free, needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser.
