German has two main negation words. kein usually negates nouns with an indefinite article or no article (Ich habe kein Auto), and it takes endings like an article: keine, keinen, keinem, keiner. nicht negates verbs, adjectives, nouns with a definite article or a possessive, names and many prepositional phrases. In each round you see a German sentence with a gap and its English translation, and you choose from four options. After every answer you see the rule; many questions also add a short hint.
A1 practices the basics of kein vs. nicht, A2 the endings of kein in the Akkusativ and Dativ, and B1 finer distinctions such as nicht mehr vs. kein … mehr; Mixed combines all three. A round has up to 10 questions, and you have 3 lives. The game is free, needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser.
