Some German prepositions always take the same case: mit, aus and nach always take the Dativ, while für, durch and ohne always take the Akkusativ. Two-way prepositions such as auf, in and vor depend on the question: Wo? (location) → Dativ, Wohin? (direction) → Akkusativ. In each question you see a German sentence with a gap and its English translation, and you choose the correct article from four options drawn from der, die, das, den and dem. After every answer you see the case and a short rule.
Choose A2 (fixed-case prepositions and Dativ verbs such as helfen), B1 (Wo/Wohin), B2 (verb + preposition patterns such as warten auf) or a mixed round. A round has up to 10 questions, and you have 3 lives. The game is free, needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser.
