About Imperativ-Meister

The German imperative changes with the person you speak to: du (informal, one person), ihr (informal, several people) or Sie (formal, one or more people). The du form is usually the bare stem (Komm!, Mach!), and verbs with an e→i/ie change in the present tense keep it in the du form (nehmen → Nimm!, lesen → Lies!), and the a→ä umlaut of the present tense never appears (fahren → Fahr!). In each question you see a German sentence with a gap and its English translation with a label that shows who is being addressed; you choose the correct form from four options. After every answer a short note explains the form.

Choose A1 (regular du forms), A2 (strong verbs, sein and haben), B1 (ihr and Sie forms, separable and reflexive verbs) or Mixed. A round has up to 10 questions, and you have 3 lives. The game is free, needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser.
