German question words (Fragewörter) introduce W-Fragen and tell the listener what kind of answer you want: Wo? asks for a location, Woher? for an origin and Wohin? for a direction; Wen? asks about a person in the Akkusativ and Wem? in the Dativ; and with a thing, a verb's preposition turns into a question word such as Worauf? or Woran?. In each question you see a German question with a gap, its answer and the English translation, and you choose the missing question word from four options. After every answer a short note explains the choice.
