A noun appears — pick the right article as fast as you can. Build streaks, build your combo, protect your lives. We turned German’s biggest stumbling block into a game.
Keys: 1 der · 2 die · 3 das — each wrong answer costs one of your 3 lives.
Every German noun has a grammatical gender. In the nominative singular, the definite article shows it: der (masculine), die (feminine) or das (neuter). In this game a noun appears and you choose its article with a tap or with the keys 1, 2 and 3. After each answer you see the English meaning and, where it is used, the plural. After a wrong answer you also get a short tip, for example about endings such as -ung (die) or -chen (das).
Choose A1, A2 or B1. A round has up to 10 nouns, and you have 3 lives; faster correct answers score more points. The game is free, needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser.
