Some German verbs take their object in the Dativ, not the Akkusativ (a few can also have a second, Akkusativ object): helfen, danken, gehören, gefallen, vertrauen and many more. A common trap for learners: it is Ich helfe dem Mann, not den Mann. In each question you see a German sentence with a gap and its English translation, and you choose the correct Dativ article, pronoun or noun form from four options. After every answer a short note names the verb pattern and explains the form.
Choose A2 (basic Dativ verbs), B1 (more verbs and pronouns), B2 (advanced verbs and weak nouns such as dem Studenten) or a mixed round. A round has up to 10 questions, and you have 3 lives. The game is free, needs no account and keeps your progress in your browser.
